Ingredients

Crab Falafel:

  • 6 oz Aqua Star Coastal Blend Crab Meat​
  • 6 oz chickpeas, cooked and strained
  • 1 Tbsp coriander, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp garlic, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp onion, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp parsley, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp cilantro, chopped
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • 3 oz gluten-free/chickpea flour
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 Tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 oz olive oil

Tzatziki Sauce​:

  • ½ Qt mayonnaise
  • ½ Qt plain yogurt
  • 3 Tbsp lemon juice, fresh squeezed
  • 5 Tbsp green scallions, roughly chopped​
  • 1 ½ Tbsp jalapeno, stems removed and diced
  • 1 English cucumber, shredded
  • 1 ½ Tbsp garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp fresh mint, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp kosher salt
  • ½ black pepper ground
  • pita bread (optional)

To make

Instructions

To make Crab Falafels:
In a food processor, combine all ingredients except the olive oil.​ Form the mixture into 2 oz balls and press down gently to form patties.​

Heat the olive oil in a sauté pan over medium-high heat.​ Cook the patties on each side until heated through and golden brown.​

To make Tzatziki Sauce:​
In a large mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, yogurt, lemon juice, scallion, jalapeno, cucumber, garlic, and fresh herbs with salt and pepper. MIx well.​ Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.​

Serve Crab Falafels over a dollop of Tzatziki sauce and garnish with pickled onion and a side of warm pita. Enjoy!

Serving Suggestions

Crab falafels can also be cooked in a deep fryer.
Delicious served with a tomato relish/chutney.
